Welcome to the Mediterranean Sea, in the Gulf of Lyon. ENSUI ("salt water" in Japanese) is a well-equipped and superbly maintained sailboat: sails, engine, hull, cabins. It is based in Port-Camargue, the marina of Grau du Roi, a short distance from the ports of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, Sète, Cap d'Agde, and La Grande-Motte, which are all pleasant weekend destinations. It is also close to the beaches of the Camargue (Espiguette, Beaduc) and Languedoc (Petit and Grand Travers, Aresquiers, Maguelonne, Lido de Thau), which make for very pleasant daytime anchorages. The French Riviera, Corsica, the Balearic Islands, and Catalonia require a fortnight (and a good weather window) to enjoy them. ENSUI is moored right next to a large free parking lot, accessible even in summer. The restrooms are 50 meters away. A shopping center (supermarket, bakery, fishmonger, restaurants, bars, takeaway) is 200 meters away. Access to the pontoon is secure. Port-Camargue docking fees are included in the rental price. ENSUI has 6 berths (2 cabins with double beds and 2 berths in the saloon). It can comfortably accommodate 1 couple with children or two couples without children. The equipment and utensils on board allow cooking for 6 people. The hull is regularly careened, and the sails are recent. The Bavaria 30 Cruiser's purpose is, of course, cruising, not racing! Its average speed is between 4 and 6 knots. It is reasonable to limit a day's sailing to about twenty miles. ENSUI is equipped in the "Offshore" category. Self-inflating life jackets (hydrostatic system), with tethers, are on board. I recommend wearing them as soon as you leave the port. The boat is equipped with lifelines, and the safety equipment is regularly serviced. Both the mainsail and the genoa (built in 2024) are furling, making ENSUI easy to maneuver by one or two people. The 14-kg anchor and 56 meters of chain allow anchoring in waters of 5 to 12 meters. Minimum nautical experience (level 2 or equivalent plus harbor maneuvering) is required.
