1. Overview The SummerNight is a Bavaria 40 designed by J&J Desings that was chosen "Boat of the Year" in Germany in 2001, the date on which it began marketing. It is registered in Zone 1. The previous classification allows the SummerNight to navigate without a mileage limitation. It is registered and enrolled in the 6th List and has a maximum legal capacity of eight (8) people on board in the ocean category. This sailboat is 12.50 meters long and, due to its technical characteristics, reaches the highest levels in its segment, allowing an exceptional length of flotation that improves its speed and passage through waves, making it an exceptional sailboat for navigation. and customer comfort. 2. Joseba Martínez de la Torre entró en contacto con el mar antes, incluso, de dar sus primeros pasos ya que es hijo de un Capitán de la Marina Mercante y, por tanto, pertenece a una familia de navegantes. Desde muy pequeño se escapaba del Colegio al puerto pesquero de Santurce (Vizcaya) para contemplar el ir y venir de los barcos. Tanto persistió que, con apenas 12 años, le dejaron gobernar las embarcaciones que, con capacidad de 60 pasajeros, trasladaban en aquella época a los vizcaínos de una margen a otra de la Ría del Nervión. Con 19 años se embarcó en un mercante para “ver mundo” y navegó por las costas del norte de Europa y África, de nuestro país y del litoral mediterráneo. Regresó y, aunque dedicado entonces a una profesión más “tradicional”, siempre continuó navegando por mares como el Cantábrico o el Mediterráneo o en océanos como el Atlántico o el Austral. Desde el punto de vista académico, Joseba Martínez de la Torre se formó en la Escuela Náutica de Bermeo (Vizcaya), centro de formación profesional del sector náutico cuyos títulos están homologados por la Dirección General de la Marina Mercante perteneciente al Ministerio de Fomento. Cuenta, por tanto, con la formación de mayor reconocimiento y prestigio de nuestro país. Consulta al final de este apartado, los títulos con los que cuenta. El compromiso de Joseba Martínez de la Torre con la navegación y el mundo náutico es de índole no solo profesional sino también personal. Consecuencia de ese compromiso ha sido su contribución activa a la difusión, conocimiento y práctica de la navegación. En tal sentido, promovió en el 2007 la creación de la primera Asociación de Vela de la Margen Izquierda del Nervión de la que fue uno de sus responsables. También ha diseñado y organizado múltiples regatas en el mar Cantábrico como la “Ruta del Hierro”. Este compromiso se mantiene a día de hoy con el mismo y único objetivo de entonces: el de compartir con los demás su gran pasión, la navegación. Joseba Martínez de la Torre atesora travesías, regatas, competiciones.… y es un experto conocedor del mar, del medio y de la navegación, y todo ello gracias a sus conocimientos y experiencias acumulados durante años que hacen de él un excepcional patrón con el que tenemos el privilegio de contar al timón del SummerNight.
