Catamaran hire in Italy

Italy is a sailor's paradise. With 4660 miles of coastline, visitors are spoilt for choice when they hire a catamaran in this country. Colourful towns, pristine beaches, verdant vineyards and seclusive coves are some of the many landscapes that you can admire on your sailing holiday. It’s time to book your catamaran charter in Italy with Scansail now!

Where to sail in Italy?

There are thousands of places in Italy waiting to be discovered with your catamaran. From the crystal-clear waters of Capri and Procida in Campania, the whitewashed towns in Apulia, the scenic Tuscan Archipelago or the colourful Cinque Terre in Liguria, we can guarantee that you will have the time of your life. By hiring a catamaran, you will also be able to escape the crowds on the coast and get a new perspective on Italy from the calm waters which surround it.

How much does a catamaran charter in Italy cost?

There is an abundance of catamaran charters on the Italian coast to choose from. The price of renting a catamaran depends on several criteria such as the model, the number of passengers onboard, the season and duration of the charter, as well as any extra options that you may need. Catamarans in Italy can be hired with or without a skipper, based on your preference and if you have a boat license.

In the low season, you can expect to pay an average of £4,250/week per person and £5,500/week per person during the summer months.

What do we offer?

At Scansail, we offer a variety of catamarans for you to charter. Whether it’s a luxury catamaran on the Amalfi Coast, a sailing catamaran in Sardinia or a power catamaran in Rimini, we can guarantee that you’ll have a memorable experience once you are gliding along the shallow waters of the Italian coast. We also have many brands available such as Lagoon and Fountaine Pajot.

You have the possibility to opt for a crewed catamaran charter. The highly trained team onboard your private yacht will be here to tend to all your needs and show you the best spots along the coast. The crew is employed by the owner of the vessel and the cost will be included in the total.

You also have the possibility to pay an APA (advanced provisioning allowance) for your yacht charter. The APA is an additional fee that will cover the provision costs for your catamaran hire.

The harbours in Italy

There is almost no part of Italy that lies farther than 75 miles from a coastline. The country is full of beautiful harbours and marinas with excellent facilities, which are perfect for hiring or mooring a catamaran. Here is a list of our favourites:

  • In the northern region of Liguria, considered to be the Italian Riviera, the best marinas include the Marina di Loano and the Marina of San Lorenzo. These marinas are well-equipped and are within close proximity to beautiful sights.
  • In the centre of the country, you’ll find the Marina Cala de’Medici and the Porto di Pisa. These marinas are excellent for exploring Tuscany, home to the beautiful cities of Florence and Pisa, but also for venturing out to the different islands which surround the region.
  • In the south, the best harbours include the Marina of Amalfi and Porto Turistico di Capri. From here, you can explore the beautiful Amalfi Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the stunning city of Naples and the archaeological site of Pompeii. These marinas also offer a stunning backdrop of Mount Vesuvius.
  • In Apulia, Italy’s best-kept secret, we recommend the Porto Santa Maria di Leuca, one of the largest in the country with 700 moorings and a gateway to the whitewashed villages for which this region is famous.

What to do in Italy?

Italy is one of the most desired countries in the world, and rightfully so. The diverse landscapes, the mouthwatering cuisine and the fantastic weather are some of the many reasons why visitors like to travel here. Our favourites include:

  • In the South, we recommend visiting the beautiful Bay of Naples. This area of the country offers something for everyone, including the colourful islands of Capri and Procida, the verdant Amalfi Coast, the city of Naples and the colossal Mount Vesuvius.
  • The island of Sicily, with the traditional cities of Palermo and Catania, long sandy beaches and hidden coves. It is also possible to sail to the neighbouring Aeolian islands, where you can gaze up at the impressive Stromboli volcano.
  • The beautiful Tuscan archipelago, with turquoise waters, rugged mountains and an abundance of water sports activities for you to try.
